DLVN May Meeting Activity
Absolute Beginner Line Dancing
May 25th, 2022 @ 6:30
Tierra Del Sol
Susan Heller, of the Village of Charlotte, has taught line dancing for years.
She focuses on teaching beginners and those who dance with two left feet.
Her classes are popular, as well as easy to comprehend.
She starts with the MUSIC OFF so people can fully focus on her words and steps.
“You begin with your feet together, take your right foot and touch it to the side,” she said. “Repeat it, then do it with the left.” She then leads the class through a series of steps, grapevines and quarter-turns. As Sue danced on the stage, everyone on the ballroom floor copied her motions and moved together.
“It’s a fun way to get moving, and you get to learn to dance,” she said. “It’s never too late to learn something new.”
“No one should feel nervous in class,” she said. “Having a fun environment is key.”
Once Susan feels everyone has picked up the steps, she turns on the music.
Music is played through the speakers, along with Heller’s voice calling out the steps.
Everyone moves together in rows with confidence as they through the choreography.
Come on out for a night of real fun!
